The Electroluminscent (EL) lamp is essentially a capacitor structure with phosphor sandwiched between the electrodes. Application of an AC voltage generates a changing field within the phosphor, which causes the phosphor to emit light.
By essentially applying/printing an electrical circuit to different areas of the film, it is possible to light up specific areas at different time intervals, permitting basic animation effects and colour cycling. Applications for EL are many and varied. However the most common uses are for display adverstising and backlighting of existing artwork, print and graphics.
EL is a very thin strucuture, ranging from around 300 microns to 600 microns. 3DZ can produce single piece image sizes of 700mm x 1500 or larger areas up to 4.5m x 5.5 by tiling.
EL can be used where high impact and night time visibility is required, and for basic effects can be a good alternative to expensive large format LED displays. FOR MORE INFORMATION OR A QUOTATION. PLEASE CONTACT US.
